What is dry needling?
Dry needling is a technique used by licensed healthcare professionals to relieve muscular pain and improve function. Thin, sterile needles are inserted into tight or irritated muscles (also called trigger points) to help release tension and promote healing.
How is dry needling different from acupuncture?
While both use similar needles, dry needling is based on modern Western medicine and focuses on muscle dysfunction and trigger points. Acupuncture is rooted in traditional Chinese medicine and works with meridian points to influence energy flow (Qi) in the body.
What conditions can dry needling help with? Dry needling can be effective for:
● Muscle tension or tightness
● Chronic pain
● Headaches and migraines
● Tendinitis or tendinopathy
● Sciatica or low back pain
● Neck and shoulder pain
● Joint pain and movement restrictions
Does dry needling hurt?
Most people feel a quick prick with insertion and sometimes a twitch or brief ache in the muscle. Some soreness is normal afterward—similar to post-workout soreness—and usually goes away within 24-48 hours.
Is dry needling safe?
Yes! When performed by a trained provider, dry needling is a safe and effective treatment. We use sterile, single-use needles and follow strict safety protocols.
